Katerina is an Aotearoa based multidisciplinary creative that works across the intersections of photography, spatial design, landscape architecture and installation art. Through building visual narratives her kaupapa (purpose) strives to challenge conventions, create conversations and reconnect people with their surroundings. Over her evolving artistic practice and the recent completion of her Master of Design at Toi Rauwhārangi, Massey University College of Creative Arts, she continues to consider and explore the connections between indigenous culture, the environment and forms of visual communication.

Kia ora koutou,

Through photography I strive to capture perspectives often overlooked, illuminating the wonder within the ordinary. In my quest to understand and reimagine the world, I often find myself drawn to different cultures and places. The medium of travel photography serves as an avenue to explore and document the complexity and diversity of our planet. It enables immersion in unfamiliar environments, allowing the essence of each place to be encapsulated and shared.

Above all, photography is the art of storytelling, a means to convey observations, emotions, and experiences. By inviting others into my world, the aspiration is to awaken their sense of curiosity and encourage them to perceive their surroundings with new eyes. Photography taps into our creativity and curiosity, perpetually seeking new ways to express and connect. It is an ongoing, lifelong journey of exploration.
